The banyan is a tall evergreen tree found in tropical and subtropical regions, so it prefers warm, sunny places. When the aerial roots attach to the ground, they grow thicker and become the supporting roots of the banyan tree. Banyan trees planted in the ground have many aerial roots, and the roots swaying in the wind create a mysterious atmosphere.
